Background

FEG president Tanikawa had stated that the company planned on holding an event together with Sengoku Raiden Championship and this event may have a similar DREAM vs SRC format as Dynamite!! 2009.{{cite web|url=http://nightmareofbattle.com/?p=3239|title=DREAM X SRC Starting For Real?! K-1 WGP 2010 Preliminary In Trouble?|publisher=nightmareofbattle.com|date=August 9, 2010|access-date=August 14, 2010|archive-date=September 26, 2010|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20100926064656/http://nightmareofbattle.com/?p=3239|url-status=usurped}} However, this did not happen as SRC held its own event, World Victory Road Presents: Soul of Fight.

Tanikawa has also stated that this Dynamite!! event will most likely be shortened (to around three hours) and the annual K-1 Koshien tournament will not take place at this event.{{cite web|url=http://nightmareofbattle.com/?p=3173|title=Shorter Dynamite!! The title fight between Bibiano Fernandes and Hiroyuki Takaya was the last in the 63 kg. (139 lbs) weight class before it gets broken into the standard MMA bantamweight and featherweight divisions. DREAM plans on holding a Grand Prix in whichever of the two weight classes the champion does not decide to fight in.{{cite web|url=http://nightmareofbattle.com/?p=4440|title=FW Title Fight! Bibiano Vs. Takaya 2 Official|publisher=nightmareofbattle.com|accessdate=2010-12-17|archive-date=2010-11-26|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20101126114705/http://nightmareofbattle.com/?p=4440|url-status=usurped}} After winning the title, Hiroyuki Takaya stated that he would become the Featherweight (145 lbs) Champion.{{cite web|url=http://www.sherdog.com/news/news/Takaya-Takes-Dream-Title-Overeem-Destroys-Duffee-at-Dynamite-29103|title=Takaya Takes Dream Title; Overeem Destroys Duffee at 'Dynamite!'|publisher=sherdog.com|date=2010-12-31}}

The Aoki/Nagashima fight was first announced that there would be an alternate of four rounds, with one round under MMA rules and the next round, then they will change gloves and, fight under kickboxing rules. A coin toss will determine what rules they start under.{{cite web|url=https://sports.yahoo.com/mma/news;_ylt=AnacyLO7fZBCHKZWAKUhxHM9Eo14?slug=dm-japanmma122110|title=Japanese MMA falls on hard times|publisher=yahoo! sports|date=2010-12-22}} However, it has later announced that the fight will feature one three-minute kickboxing round, followed by a standard five-minute MMA round. The fighters used open-fingered gloves throughout. If no winner were decided in the eight minutes of competition, the fight would have been declared an automatic draw.{{cite web|url=http://www.sherdog.com/news/news/Overeem-Duffee-Official-Special-Rules-Revealed-for-Dynamite-29057|title=Overeem-Duffee Official; Special Rules Revealed for 'Dynamite'|publisher=sherdog.com|date=2010-12-29}}

A fight between Bob Sapp and Shinichi Suzukawa held under super-heavyweight “IGF rules” was scheduled for the event. The fight was set to feature a rule set similar to MMA, but with no closed fist strikes. However, the fight was canceled due to Sapp attempting to re-negotiate his contract backstage prior to the event and eventually electing to withdraw from the contest.{{cite web|url=http://mmajunkie.com/news/21916/dream-dynamite-2010-live-results.mma|title=DREAM "Dynamite!! 2010" recap: Takaya claims featherweight title in main event|publisher=mmajunkie.com|date=2010-12-31|url-status=dead|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110102174116/http://mmajunkie.com/news/21916/dream-dynamite-2010-live-results.mma|archivedate=2011-01-02}}
