Dyspteris is a genus of moths in the family Geometridae and was erected by Jacob Hübner in 1818. It is monotypic, being represented by a single species, Dyspteris abortivaria, commonly known as the bad-wing. This species was first described by Gottlieb August Wilhelm Herrich-Schäffer in 1855 and is found in North America.{{cite web |last=Savela |first=Markku |url=http://www.nic.funet.fi/pub/sci/bio/life/insecta/lepidoptera/ditrysia/geometroidea/geometridae/larentiinae/dyspteris/ |title=Dyspteris Hübner, 1818 |website=Lepidoptera and Some Other Life Forms |accessdate=May 18, 2019}}

It is called "bad-wing" because its forewing is much larger than its hindwing, making it often difficult to pull into position for spreading.{{cite web |last1=Lotts |first1=Kelly |last2=Naberhaus |first2=Thomas |name-list-style=amp |date=2017 |url=https://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/species/Dyspteris-abortivaria |title=The Bad-wing Dyspteris abortivaria (Herrich-Schäffer, 1855) |website=Butterflies and Moths of North America |accessdate=June 9, 2019}}
