E. S. Rose Park is a baseball, softball, soccer, and track & field venue in Nashville, Tennessee, United States. It is home to Nashville Union FC and Belmont Bruins baseball, softball, men's and women's soccer, and men's and women's track & field teams of the NCAA Division I Ohio Valley Conference. It is located approximately five minutes from Belmont University's main campus. The city-owned park was renovated extensively in 2010–2011.

History

Prior to the renovation of Rose Park, Belmont's outdoor sports programs used a variety of facilities around Nashville, including Shelby Park and Herschel Greer Stadium in the case of the baseball team.{{cite web |title=Belmont Baseball v. The proposals met with resistance from residents of the neighborhood, who cited concerns about noise, increased traffic levels, and the loss of park use for local residents. Belmont responded with promises to share access to the facility.{{cite web|last=Ulrich |first=Elizabeth |title=Rumble in Rose Park: Edgehill Loses Round One of Its Battle to Keep Belmont University Out of Its Neighborhood |url=http://www.nashvillescene.com/nashville/rumble-in-rose-park/Content?oid=1194639 |work=NashvilleScene.com |access-date=16 May 2012 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20151102080935/http://www.nashvillescene.com/nashville/rumble-in-rose-park/Content?oid=1194639 |archive-date=2015-11-02 |date=10 May 2007 |url-status=dead }}{{cite web |last=Wilson |first=Brian |title=Proposal Could Halt Rose Park Renovation |url=http://belmontvision.com/2010/12/proposal-could-halt-rose-park-renovation/ |work=BelmontVision.com |access-date=16 May 2012 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20120323171125/http://belmontvision.com/2010/12/proposal-could-halt-rose-park-renovation/ |archive-date=2012-03-23 |date=13 December 2010 |url-status=dead }} After years of discussions, the neighborhood agreed to the facility's construction, and the university agreed to create scholarships for Edgehill residents and to help sponsor local baseball and softball leagues. Between 2010 and 2011, the park underwent $8 million in renovations.

The park opened in April 2011. Belmont's softball team won Rose Park's first game, 1–0 over North Florida, on April 8, 2011.{{cite web |title=2011 Softball Game Results |url=http://belmont.prestosports.com/sports/w-softbl/History_Stats/2011_softball_results.pdf |work=Belmont.PrestoSports.com |access-date=16 May 2012 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20151018204250/http://belmont.prestosports.com/sports/w-softbl/History_Stats/2011_softball_results.pdf |archive-date=2015-10-18 |url-status=dead }}{{cite web |title=Opening Day at Rose Park Gallery |url=http://belmont.prestosports.com/sports/w-softbl/2010-11/photos/index |work=Belmont.PrestoSports.com |access-date=16 May 2012 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20111209183837/http://belmont.prestosports.com/sports/w-softbl/2010-11/photos/index |archive-date=2011-12-09 |url-status=dead }} The Belmont baseball team lost its first-ever game in the facility, 7–5 to Austin Peay, on April 26, 2011.{{cite web |title=Baseball Falls to Austin Peay Tuesday Night |url=http://belmont.prestosports.com/sports/m-basebl/2010-11/releases/20110426yw29hl |work=Belmont.PrestoSports.com |access-date=16 May 2012 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20111208041611/http://belmont.prestosports.com/sports/m-basebl/2010-11/releases/20110426yw29hl |archive-date=2011-12-08 |date=26 April 2011 |url-status=dead }}
