EOS memory
EOS memory (for ECC on SIMMs) is an error-correcting memory system built into SIMMs, used to upgrade server-class computers without built-in ECC memory support. The EOS SIMM itself does the error checking, with reduced need for ECC memory modules and support.[http://ohlandl.ipv7.net/config/memory_error_correct.html Memory Error Correction : ECC on SIMMs (EOS) Memory]{{Cite web |url=http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/redbooks/pdfs/sg244576.pdf |title=IBM PC Server and Novell NetWare Integration Guide, December 1995: 1.4.4 EOS (ECC on SIMMs) memory |access-date=2013-01-15 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20051105151917/http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/redbooks/pdfs/sg244576.pdf |archive-date=2005-11-05 |url-status=dead }} The technology was introduced by IBM in the mid-1990s.
