The ETAP 23i is a Belgian trailerable sailboat that was designed by Jacques de Ridder as a cruiser and first built in 1982.{{cite web|url= https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/etap-23i|title= ETAP 23i sailboat |access-date= 2 April 2021|last= McArthur| first= Bruce |work= sailboatdata.com|year= 2020|archive-url= https://archive.today/20210402153630/https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/etap-23i|archive-date= 2 April 2021|url-status= live}}{{cite web|url= https://sailboatdata.com/designer/de-ridder-jacques|title= Jacques de Ridder|access-date = 2 April 2021|last= McArthur| first = Bruce |work = sailboatdata.com|year = 2021|archive-url= https://archive.today/20210116154359/https://sailboatdata.com/designer/de-ridder-jacques|archive-date= 16 January 2021|url-status= live}}{{cite web|url= https://sailboat.guide/etap/23i|title= ETAP 23i|access-date= 17 April 2022|author= Sea Time Tech, LLC|work= sailboat.guide|year= 2022|archive-url= https://archive.today/20220417162714/https://sailboat.guide/etap/23i|archive-date= 17 April 2022|url-status= live}}
The ETAP 23i is a development of the ETAP 23. The design was developed into the ETAP 23iL in 1996.
Production
The design was built by ETAP Yachting in Belgium between 1982 and 1994, with 700 boats completed, but it is now out of production.{{cite web|url= https://sailboatdata.com/builder/etap-yachting|title = Etap Yachting|access-date = 2 April 2021|last= McArthur| first = Bruce |work = sailboatdata.com|year = 2021|archive-url= https://archive.today/20210323150726/https://sailboatdata.com/builder/etap-yachting|archive-date= 23 March 2021|url-status= live}}
Design
The ETAP 23i is a recreational keelboat, built predominantly of glassfibre, with wood trim. It has a fractional sloop rig, a raked stem, a plumb transom, a transom-hung rudder controlled by a tiller and a lifting keel. It displaces {{convert|3306|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} and carries {{convert|1036|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} of ballast.
The boat has a draft of {{convert|4.80|ft|m|abbr=on}} with the lifting keel extended and {{convert|2.30|ft|m|abbr=on}} with it retracted, allowing ground transportation on a trailer.
For sailing downwind the design may be equipped with a spinnaker.
Operational history
The boat was at one time supported by a class club, the ETAP Owners Association.{{cite web|url= https://sailboatdata.com/association/etap-owners-association|title= Etap Owners Association|access-date = 27 March 2021|last= McArthur| first = Bruce |work = sailboatdata.com|year = 2021|archive-url= https://archive.today/20210323150702/https://sailboatdata.com/association/etap-owners-association|archive-date= 23 March 2021|url-status= dead}}
