Production

The design has been built by ETAP Yachting in Belgium since 2005. It remained advertised as still in production in 2023.{{cite web|url= https://sailboatdata.com/builder/etap-yachting|title = Etap Yachting|access-date = 5 April 2021|last= McArthur| first = Bruce |work = sailboatdata.com|year = 2021|archive-url= https://archive.today/20210323150726/https://sailboatdata.com/builder/etap-yachting|archive-date= 23 March 2021|url-status= live}}{{cite web|url= http://etapyachting.1a-8568.antagusserver.de/etapyachting/node/10|title= ETAP 26s|access-date= 13 April 2023|author= ETAP Yachting|author-link= ETAP Yachting|work= ETAP Yachting|archive-url= https://archive.today/20210405142555/http://etapyachting.1a-8568.antagusserver.de/etapyachting/node/10|archive-date= 5 April 2021|url-status= live}}{{cite web|url= https://sailboat.guide/etap|title= Etap Yachting|access-date= 8 April 2023|author= Sea Time Tech, LLC|work= sailboat.guide|year= 2023|archive-url= https://archive.today/20230408130545/https://sailboat.guide/etap|archive-date= 8 April 2023|url-status= live}}

Design

The ETAP 26s is a recreational keelboat, built predominantly of glassfibre, with wood trim. The construction is of a polyester glassfibre and closed-cell polyurethane foam sandwich, which provides buoyancy and makes the boat unsinkable. It has a fractional sloop rig with a bowsprit; a plumb stem; a vertical, walk-through transom; dual, canted, transom-hung rudders controlled by a tiller and a fixed fin keel or optional shoal draft dual keels. The fin keel version displaces {{convert|3964|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} and carries {{convert|1101|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} of lead ballast, while the dual keel version displaces {{convert|4008|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} and carries {{convert|1145|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} of ballast.{{cite web|url= http://etapyachting.1a-8568.antagusserver.de/etapyachting/node/22|title= ETAP 26s: Technical specifications|access-date= 5 April 2021|author= ETAP Yachting|author-link= ETAP Yachting|work= ETAP Yachting|archive-url= https://archive.today/20210405143001/http://etapyachting.1a-8568.antagusserver.de/etapyachting/node/22|archive-date= 5 April 2021|url-status= live}}

The boat has a draft of {{convert|4.92|ft|m|abbr=on}} with the standard fin keel and {{convert|2.79|ft|m|abbr=on}} with the optional shoal draft tandem keels.

The boat is fitted with a Japanese Yanmar diesel engine or a small outboard motor for docking and manoeuvring.

The design has sleeping accommodation for four people, with a double "V"-berth in the bow cabin and two straight settees in the main cabin. The galley is located on both sides, just aft of the bow cabin. The galley is equipped with a two-burner stove and a sink. The head is located in the bow cabin on the port side. The fresh water tank has a capacity of {{convert|13|u.s.gal}}.

Operational history

The boat was at one time supported by a class club, the ETAP Owners Association.{{cite web|url= https://sailboatdata.com/association/etap-owners-association|title= Etap Owners Association|access-date = 27 March 2021|last= McArthur| first = Bruce |work = sailboatdata.com|year = 2021|archive-url= https://archive.today/20210323150702/https://sailboatdata.com/association/etap-owners-association|archive-date= 23 March 2021|url-status= dead}}

A Xboat review reported, "right from its launch, the ETAP 26s was a trendsetter, with its safe, deep cockpit, the flowing lines of its cabin sofas, the recessed foredeck hatch and much more."

A profile in 2Yachts states, "Etap 26s was ... [a] landmark yacht and a kind of a trendsetter in the field of small cruisers. The yacht immediately after his birth became popular among the sailors due to a combination of several technical solutions. Among them: a deep, safe and well-planned cockpit, comfortable, spacious and well equipped below deck space, the ability to move the yacht on a trailer, the possibility of picking different keel options including a lifting keel and double that facilitate the possibility of walking on shallow waters and giving you the opportunity to pull the boat into the water right off the trailer on the slip, without any crane."{{cite web|url= https://2yachts.com/models/etap-26s|title= Etap 26s|access-date= 8 April 2023|author= 2Yachts |work= 2yachts.com|year= 2023|archive-url= https://archive.today/20230408132315/https://2yachts.com/models/etap-26s|archive-date= 8 April 2023|url-status= live}}
