The Eclipse 6.7, also called the Northbridge Eclipse, is an American trailerable sailboat that was designed by Carl Alberg as a cruiser and first built in 1978.{{cite web|url= https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/eclipse-67-southcoast|title= Eclipse 6.7 (Southcoast) sailboat |access-date= 15 June 2021|last= McArthur| first= Bruce |work= sailboatdata.com|year= 2020|archive-url= https://archive.today/20210615155240/https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/eclipse-67-southcoast|archive-date= 15 June 2021|url-status= live}}{{cite web|url= https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/northbridge-eclipse-southcoast|title= Northbridge Eclipse (Southcoast) sailboat |access-date= 15 June 2021|last= McArthur| first= Bruce |work= sailboatdata.com|year= 2020|archive-url= https://archive.today/20210615155129/https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/northbridge-eclipse-southcoast|archive-date= 15 June 2021|url-status= live}}{{cite web|url= https://sailboatdata.com/designer/alberg-carl|title= Carl Alberg 1900 - 1986|access-date = 13 June 2021|last= McArthur| first = Bruce |work = sailboatdata.com|year = 2021|archive-url= https://archive.today/20201021182142/https://sailboatdata.com/designer/alberg-carl|archive-date= 21 October 2020|url-status= live}}{{cite web|url= https://sailboat.guide/south-coast/eclipse-67-southcoast|title= Eclipse 6.7|access-date= 18 April 2022|author= Sea Time Tech, LLC|work= sailboat.guide|year= 2022|archive-url= https://archive.today/20220418140249/https://sailboat.guide/south-coast/eclipse-67-southcoast|archive-date= 18 April 2022|url-status= live}}
The design is a development of the South Coast 22, which was in turn based upon Alberg's South Coast 21 design. The Eclipse differs from the South Coast 22 by moving the mast {{convert|2|ft|m|abbr=on}} forward, plus changes to the coach house roof, cockpit and the interior.{{cite web|url= https://southcoastus.tripod.com/#Eclipse|title= Eclipse 6.7|access-date= 15 June 2021|author= South Coast Seacraft Owners' Association|date= 2 May 2009|archive-url= https://archive.today/20210615182053/https://southcoastus.tripod.com/%23Eclipse|archive-date= 15 June 2021|url-status= live}}
Production
The design was built by South Coast Seacraft in United States, starting in 1978, but it is now out of production.{{cite web|url = https://sailboatdata.com/builder/south-coast-seacraft-co|title = South Coast Seacraft Co. 1965 - 1981|access-date = 13 June 2021|last= McArthur| first = Bruce |work = sailboatdata.com|year = 2021|archive-url= https://archive.today/20210611135828/https://sailboatdata.com/builder/south-coast-seacraft-co|archive-date= 11 June 2021|url-status= live}}
Design
The Eclipse 6.7 is a recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass, with wood trim. It has a masthead sloop rig, a spooned raked stem, an angled transom, a transom-hung rudder controlled by a tiller and a swing keel. It displaces {{convert|1800|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} and carries {{convert|500|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} of ballast.
The boat has a draft of {{convert|4.83|ft|m|abbr=on}} with the keel extended and {{convert|0.83|ft|m|abbr=on}} with it retracted, allowing operation in shallow water, beaching or ground transportation on a trailer. The boat is normally fitted with a small outboard motor for docking and maneuvering.
The design has a hull speed of {{convert|5.52|kn|km/h|abbr=on}}.
Operational history
The boat is supported by an active class club that organizes racing events, the South Coast Seacraft Owners' Association.{{cite web|url= https://sailboatdata.com/association/south-coast-seacraft-owners-association|title= South Coast Seacraft Owners' Association|access-date = 13 June 2021|last= McArthur| first = Bruce |work = sailboatdata.com|year = 2021|archive-url= https://archive.today/20210611145946/https://sailboatdata.com/association/south-coast-seacraft-owners-association|archive-date= 11 June 2021|url-status= live}}
