Ed Smith was a Canadian writer who resided in the province of Newfoundland. Life
Smith settled in Springdale, Newfoundland with his wife, Marian, and lived there until his death.{{Cite web|last=|first=|date=2017-10-16|title=Brian Warr Member Statement - Ed Smith|url=https://nlliberals.ca/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/MHA-Brian-Warr-Member-Statement-Oct16.2017-EdSmith.pdf|archive-url=|archive-date=|access-date=2020-08-31|website=}} In 1980, he began writing a humour column called "The View From Here", which has now appeared in six papers and magazine. He also wrote for the Toronto Star and the Reader's Digest. He retired from his career in education in 1996.
