Edamalayar or Idamalayar is one of the major tributaries of the Periyar river, the longest river in Kerala, South India.{{Cite web |title=IDAMALAYAR DAM – KSEB Dam Safety Organisation |url=https://dams.kseb.in/?p=89 |access-date=2024-07-19 |language=en-US |quote=The river Idamalayar is a major tributary of Periyar originating from the Anamala Hills at about elevation 2520 m meeting Periyar at about 1.65km upstream of Bhoothathankettu barrage of Periyar Valley Irrigation Scheme.}} Idamalayar Dam is situated in this river. It originates in the Anamalais of Kerala's Ernakulam district, and flows into Tamil Nadu. It re-enters Kerala near Malakkappara, and flows into the Idamalayar Dam. It joins the Periyar near Kuttampuzha.
