The village was the site of the Eidsfos Iron Works ({{lang|no|Eidsfos Jernverk}}) which was first built in 1697. The ironworks was closed in 1873. The village is also the location of the historic Eidsfos Manor ({{lang|no|Eidsfos Hovedgård}}) where the owners and manager of the ironworks maintained residence for over 250 years. The manor house, which reflects both Renaissance and Baroque architecture, dates from approximately 1750.{{Cite web |last=Anne Merete Knudsen |date=23 November 2015 |title=Eidsfoss |url=http://www.vfk.no/Tema-og-tjenester/Kulturarv/Vestfoldhistorie-artikkel/Andre-tema-og-steder/Eidsfoss/ |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160202051010/http://www.vfk.no/Tema-og-tjenester/Kulturarv/Vestfoldhistorie-artikkel/Andre-tema-og-steder/Eidsfoss/ |archive-date=February 2, 2016 |access-date=January 25, 2016 |publisher=Vestfold fylkeskommune}}{{Cite web |title=Eidsfos Hovedgård |url=http://www.jernverketeidsfoss.no/steder/eidsfos-hovedgard/ |access-date=January 25, 2016 |publisher=Jernverket Eidsfoss}}
