Eivind Hjelmtveit

Eivind Hjelmtveit (16 August 1926 – 11 February 2017) was a Norwegian cultural administrator.
He was born in Eydehavn, and attended school in Arendal and Sandefjord.{{cite news|title=Eivind Hjelmtveit 75 år 16. august|agency=Norwegian News Agency|date=3 August 2006|language=no}} He started his career at Riksteatret in 1950 as a secretary, and was the director of Riksteatret from 1968 to 1975 and later Oslo Kinematografer from 1975 to 1993.{{cite news|title=80 år 16. august: Tidl. kinodirektør Eivind Hjelmtveit|agency=Norwegian News Agency|date=3 August 2006|language=no}} He was also behind the establishment of Hålogaland Teater in 1971{{cite news|url=http://www2.scenekunst.no/artikkel_1826.nml |title=Regionteatrene 35 år etter |last=Heløe |first=Leif Arne |date=24 November 2005 |work=Scenekunst.no |language=no |access-date=13 April 2009 |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110724183505/http://www2.scenekunst.no/artikkel_1826.nml |archive-date=24 July 2011 }} and also Teatret Vårt and Teater Ibsen. He is decorated as a Knight of the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. He resided in Frogner, Oslo.
