Eliya IX ({{langx|syr|ܐܠܝܐ}} / Elīyā, died 17 May 1700) was Patriarch of the Church of the East from 1660 to 1700, with his residence in Rabban Hormizd Monastery, near Alqosh, in modern Iraq. He was a "vigorous defender of the traditional faith",{{sfn|Wilmshurst|2000|p=25}} and on several occasions acted against local representatives of the Catholic Church in the region.{{sfn|Wilmshurst|2000|p=26, 28, 104, 195, 242, 355}} His correspondence with Rome, in 1668–1669, ended without agreement on the discussed issues.{{sfn|Baum|Winkler|2003|p=119}}
In older historiography, he was designated as Eliya IX,{{sfn|Malech|Malech|1910|p=321}} but later renumbered as Eliya "X" by some authors.{{sfn|Tisserant|1931|p=261-263}}{{sfn|Fiey|1993|p=37}} After the resolution of several chronological questions, he was designated again as Eliya IX,{{sfn|Lampart|1966|p=48, 64, 67, 112, 206}}{{sfn|Macomber|1969|p=263-273}}{{sfn|Murre van den Berg|1999|p=246}} and that numeration is accepted in recent scholarly works.{{sfn|Baum|Winkler|2000|p=108, 152}}{{sfn|Baum|Winkler|2003|p=174}}{{sfn|Baum|2004|p=234}}{{sfn|Baumer|2005|p=249, 312}}{{sfn|Murre van den Berg|2006|p=528}}{{sfn|Hage|2007|p=473}}{{sfn|Jakob|2014|p=99}}
