Football career

Ellert was part of the Iceland national football team between 1959 and 1970. He played 23 matches, scoring 6 goals.

Political career

Ellert´s biological son is Arnar Þór Jónsson.

Death

Ellert died on 24 January 2025, at the age of 85.
