It is located {{convert|6|km|0|abbr=on}} south of the Emerald town centre, on the Gregory Highway (Springsure Road).{{cite web | url = http://www.qantas.com.au/travel/airlines/airport-guide-emerald/global/en | title = Airport Guide: Emerald Airport | publisher = Qantas | access-date = 31 July 2011}} The airport is operated by the Central Highlands Regional Council.

Emerald Airport is currently serviced by QantasLink, Virgin Australia Regional Airlines and Alliance Airlines who operate a

combined (on average) 54 return commercial services to Brisbane per week.

Facilities

The airport is at an elevation of {{convert|624|ft|0|abbr=on}} above sea level. It has two runways: 06/24 with an asphalt surface measuring {{convert|1900|x|30|m|0|abbr=on}} and 15/33 with an asphalt surface measuring {{convert|926|x|18|m|0|abbr=on}}.

Emerald Airport recently spent $7.7 million extending the terminal and refurbishing the old terminal.
