Founded in 1973, the EWT has an expanding footprint throughout southern and East Africa, focusing on the conservation of threatened species and ecosystems. The EWT implements research and conservation action programmes, implementing projects that address the threats facing species and their habitats, and support sustainable natural resource management.{{Cite web|title=Endangered Wildlife Trust Integrated Report 2020 |url=https://www.ewt.org.za/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/EWT-Integrated-Report-2020.pdf|url-status=live|website=Endangered Wildlife Trust |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20201212141914/https://www.ewt.org.za/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/EWT-Integrated-Report-2020.pdf|archive-date=12 December 2020}}
