Patient selection is extremely important in order to avoid surgical complications. Patients diagnosed with rT1 or rT2 tumors, and some rT3 tumors may be candidates for the surgery.{{Cite journal|last1=Monteiro|first1=Eric|last2=Witterick|first2=Ian|date=2014-09-01|title=Endoscopic nasopharyngectomy: Patient selection and surgical execution|url=http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1043181014000335|journal=Operative Techniques in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery|series=Surgical Approaches to the Parapharynx and Nasopharynx|language=en|volume=25|issue=3|pages=284–288|doi=10.1016/j.otot.2014.04.010|issn=1043-1810|url-access=subscription}}
