Endura (sometimes written Endvra) was a dark ambient band that was active during the 1990s.{{cite web | url=https://music.apple.com/us/artist/endura/252864219 | title=Endura on iTunes | access-date=March 20, 2010}} The band had only two members, Stephen Pennick and Christopher Walton. The name of the band comes from the Cathars' practice of ritualistic fasting to speed death.{{cite web | url=http://www.esoterra.org/endura.htm | title=Interview with Endura | author=Hensley, Chad | work=Esoterra Magazine | accessdate=March 19, 2010 | archive-date=March 18, 2016 | archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160318015541/http://www.esoterra.org/endura.htm | url-status=dead }}

He has referred to himself as a misanthrope.
Endura mixes elements of ambient music with tribal rhythms, chants, moans, and sounds effects such as rattling chains and echoes. Their style has been described as "combining synthesizers reminiscent of Tangerine Dream with (un)healthy doses of Aleister Crowley, H.P. Lovecraft, and psychedelic drugs", "absolutely haunting and dark",{{cite web | url=http://www.seaoftranquility.org/reviews.php?op=showcontent&id=1641 | title=Black Eden Review | date=January 1, 2004 | accessdate=March 20, 2010 | work=Sea of Tranquility}} or simply "Neoclassical".{{cite web | url=http://www.ssmt-reviews.com/artist/endura.html | title=Great God Pan Review | author=Chedsey, John | date=June 2000 | accessdate=March 20, 2010 | archive-date=May 18, 2011 | archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110518044351/http://www.ssmt-reviews.com/artist/endura.html | url-status=dead }} Walton has stated that Pennick has more melodic talent while Walton himself is more conceptual.
