An engine-indicating and crew-alerting system (EICAS)

On EICAS equipped aircraft the "recommended remedial action" is called a checklist.

Components

EICAS typically includes instrumentation of various engine parameters, including for example speed of rotation, temperature values including exhaust gas temperature, fuel flow and quantity, oil pressure etc. Other aircraft systems typically monitored by EICAS are for example hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, deicing, environmental and control surface systems. EICAS has high connectivity & provides data acquisition and routing.{{Cite web|title=EICAS displays|url=http://www.astronautics.com/index.php?q=content/engine-instrument-crew-alert-system-display|url-status=dead|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110707181316/http://www.astronautics.com/index.php?q=content/engine-instrument-crew-alert-system-display|archive-date=2011-07-07|access-date=2020-12-03|website=Astronautics|publisher=Astronautics Corporation of America}}

Limitations

On some Bombardier aircraft, it is possible to call up the wrong checklist. Messages forbidding take-off can be shown as advisories.{{cite web|url=https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2023-03-28/multiple-eicas-alerts-preceded-fatal-challenger-flight|title=Multiple EICAS Alerts Preceded Fatal Challenger In-flight Upset - AIN|first1=Gordon|last1=Gilbert|website=Aviation International News}}
