Eric Knightley Chetwode Hamilton {{post-nominals|KCVO}}[http://www.npg.org.uk/live/search/person.asp?LinkID=mp76204 NPG details] (1890{{snd}}21 May 1962) was an Anglican bishop.{{cite magazine |url=https://content.time.com/time/subscriber/article/0,33009,938405,00.html |title=Milestones: Jun. 1, 1962 |work=Time |date=1 June 1962}} He served as Bishop of Shrewsbury, a suffragan bishop of the Diocese of Lichfield (1940 to 1944), and was then Dean of Windsor from 1944 until his death.

Biography

Hamilton was ordained both times alongside his brother, Crewe (later a canon of St Albans): they were made deacons on the Feast of St Thomas (21 December) 1913{{Church Times | title = The Advent Ordinations | archive = 1913_12_24_896 | issue = 2657 | date = 24 December 1913 | page = 896 | accessed = 6 March 2021 }} and ordained priests on 20 December 1914; both times by Arthur Winnington-Ingram, Bishop of London, at St Paul's Cathedral.{{Church Times | title = Advent Ordinations | archive = 1914_12_24_667 | issue = 2709 | date = 24 December 1914 | page = 667 | accessed = 6 March 2021 }} He was later priest in charge of St John's, Knightsbridge, vicar of St Nicholas Church, Chiswick and then of St Paul's, Knightsbridge before being appointed Bishop suffragan of Shrewsbury in 1940."Bishop Suffragan Of Shrewsbury Consecration At The Abbey".
