Erne East is one of the seven district electoral areas (DEA) in Fermanagh and Omagh, Northern Ireland.[https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ireland-25357751 Final Northern Ireland super council recommendations], BBC News, 13 December 2013, accessed 24 May 2014 The district elects six members to Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and contains the wards of Brookeborough, Donagh, Lisnaskea, Maguiresbridge, Newtownbutler and Rosslea.{{Cite web |title=Fermanagh and Omagh District Council |url= https://www.ark.ac.uk/elections/nlgfo.htm |access-date=2023-07-10 |website=www.ark.ac.uk}} Erne East forms part of the Fermanagh and South Tyrone constituencies for the Northern Ireland Assembly and UK Parliament.
It was created for the 1985 local elections, replacing Fermanagh Area A and Fermanagh Area B which had existed since 1973, where it originally contained six wards (Brookeborough, Donagh, Lisnaskea, Maguires Bridge, Newtownbutler and Rosslea).
