Ernest Pearce

He was born on 23 July 1865 and was educated at Christ's Hospital and Peterhouse, Cambridge.{{acad|id=PR884EH|name=Pearce, Ernest Harold}} Ordained priest in 1890 he was firstly an assistant master and school chaplain at Christ's Hospital.{{cite book | last=Malden Richard (ed) | title= Crockford's Clerical Directory for 1920 (51st edn) | location= London | publisher= The Field Press| pages=1680| year=1920 }} An eminent scholar, he was Professor of Biblical History at Queen's College, London{{Cite web |url=http://www.qcl.org.uk/pioneering.aspx |title=College Web-Site |access-date=3 February 2008 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20080131175745/http://qcl.org.uk/pioneering.aspx |archive-date=31 January 2008 |url-status=dead }} until 1905 when he became Rector of Christ Church Greyfriars in the City of London.
