Erythroxylum minutifolium is a species of flowering plant in the family Erythroxylaceae. It is a shrub native to Cuba and possibly Hispaniola.
Erythroxylum minutifolium is considered a very abundant plant in Cuba,Toledo-Castro, Sandra María; Gonzalez-Lavaut, José A.; Echemendia, Olga, and Garcia-Gonzalez, Nelson. Phytochemical and pharmacological evaluation of the fruits of Erythroxylum minutifolium Griseb: (Erythroxylaceae). Revista Cubana de Plantas Medicinales. 2008, vol.13, n.2, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1028-4796. however the IUCN Red List lists the species' synonym Erythroxylum echinodendron as extinct in the wild.
According to Plants of the World Online E. minutifolium is native to both Cuba and Hispaniola. Other sources describe it as endemic to Cuba.Ramona Oviedo Prieto "Novelties in Erythroxylum (Erythroxylaceae) of the Greater Antilles," Willdenowia, 33(1), 187-195, (29 August 2003) According to R. O. Prieto specimens of E. minutifolium collected in Hispaniola are actually of Erythroxylum williamsii which have been misidentified.
