On 13–14 February 1961, "{{lang|es|Estando contigo|i=no}}" performed by Conchita Bautista competed in the {{esccnty|Spain|y=1961|t=national final}} organized by {{lang|es|Televisión Española|i=no}} (TVE) to select its first ever entrant in the Eurovision Song Contest. On 18 March 1961, the Eurovision Song Contest was held at the {{lang|fr|Palais des Festivals et des Congrès|i=no}} of Cannes hosted by the {{lang|fr|Radiodiffusion-Télévision Française|i=no}} (RTF), and broadcast live throughout the continent. Conchita Bautista performed "{{lang|es|Estando contigo|i=no}}" first on the night, preceding {{esccnty|Monaco|y=1961}}'s "{{lang|fr|Allons, allons les enfants|i=no}}" performed by Colette Deréal.
