EFMD provides a forum for networking in management development.{{cite journal |title=European Foundation for Management Development|url=http://10times.com/organizers/european-foundation-for-management-development-efmd}}
EFMD operates the EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), which is one of the leading international systems of quality assessment, improvement, and accreditation of higher education institutions in management and business administration. It is comparable to its American equivalent Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business and provides a forum for information, research, networking and debate on innovation and best practice in management development.{{cite news |title= Hayleys case study by INSEAD wins top award in Europe |location=Sri Lanka |newspaper=The Daily Mirror |date=3 June 2010 |url=http://www.dailymirror.lk/print/index.php/business/127-local/12150.html |access-date=19 August 2010}}
The foundation also runs the EFMD Programme Accreditation System (EPAS) for programmes as well as the EFMD Deans Across Frontiers development programme (EDAF) and the Business School Impact System (BSIS).{{cite journal|title=European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD)|url=http://www.unprme.org/about-prme/governance/efmd.php|access-date=4 June 2014|archive-date=17 August 2017|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20170817121059/http://www.unprme.org/about-prme/governance/efmd.php|url-status=dead}}
Types of accreditation
While the EQUIS accreditation process, which is valid for an entire school (or faculty), is the main type of accreditation EFMD offers, there are a variety of other accreditations available. With EPAS{{cite web |title= EPAS Accreditation EFMD Programme accreditation System (EPAS) |url= http://www.efmd.org/index.php/services-for-business-schools/epas-accreditation |access-date= 1 November 2010 |archive-url= https://web.archive.org/web/20100920061119/http://www.efmd.org/index.php/services-for-business-schools/epas-accreditation |archive-date= 20 September 2010 |url-status= dead }} it is possible for business schools to have certain degree programs accredited rather than the entire school. This variant somewhat resembles the AMBA (Association of MBAs) accreditation, as the London-based Association accredits the school's entire portfolio of MBA programs, but does not accredit the entire business school. EFMD also offers an accreditation for online courses (EOCCS) and for corporate learning (CLIP).
