Research

Hevia was appointed a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow at the University of Strathclyde working with [https://www.strath.ac.uk/staff/mulveyrobertprof/ Robert Mulvey] in 2006. She became Senior Lecturer in 2010 and Reader in 2011.{{Cite web|url=http://www.rsc.org/ScienceAndTechnology/Awards/CordayMorganPrizes/2017-Winner-Hevia.asp|title=RSC Corday-Morgan Prize 2017 Winner|website=www.rsc.org|language=en|access-date=2018-03-27}} She was appointed Professor at the University of Strathclyde in 2013, when she was only 38 years old.{{Cite news|url=https://sruk.org.uk/eva-hevia-professor-university-strathclyde-glasgow-receives-2016-sruk-emerging-talent-award/|title=Eva Hevia, professor at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, receives the 2016 SRUK Emerging Talent Award - Sruk|date=2016-12-12|work=Sruk|access-date=2018-03-27|language=en-US|archive-date=2019-04-30|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20190430115808/https://sruk.org.uk/eva-hevia-professor-university-strathclyde-glasgow-receives-2016-sruk-emerging-talent-award/|url-status=dead}} Since February 2019 Eva is a Professor in Inorganic Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Bern.

When receiving the 2016 SRUK Emerging Talent Award, Eva Hevia was named by Professor Morata, who was chair of the Award's scientific committee, as "one of the strongest and most promising researchers in her field at international level."

Hevia's research is in polar organometallic chemistry. Her research group are interested in the development of multicomponent reagents containing earth-abundant metals for synthesis. The chemistry uses the cooperative effects of two metals, which allows of new areas of chemistry based on metal-mediated organic synthesis and building supramolecular structures.{{Cite web|url=https://www.youngacademyofscotland.org.uk/members/evahevia.html|title=YAS Members - Eva Hevia|website=www.youngacademyofscotland.org.uk|language=en-gb|access-date=2018-03-27|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20190430115858/https://www.youngacademyofscotland.org.uk/members/evahevia.html|archive-date=2019-04-30|url-status=dead}} These areas include: metallation for chemoselective functionalisation of organic molecules,{{Cite journal|last=Hernán-Gómez|first=Alberto|last2=Herd|first2=Emma|last3=Uzelac|first3=Marina|last4=Cadenbach|first4=Thomas|last5=Kennedy|first5=Alan R.|last6=Borilovic|first6=Ivana|last7=Aromı́|first7=Guillem|last8=Hevia|first8=Eva|date=2015-06-08|title=Zincate-Mediated Arylation Reactions of Acridine: Pre- and Postarylation Structural Insights|journal=Organometallics|volume=34|issue=11|pages=2614–2623|doi=10.1021/om501251q|issn=0276-7333|url=https://strathprints.strath.ac.uk/55842/1/Hern_n_G_mez_etal_Organometallics_2016_Zincate_mediated_arylation_reactions_of_acridine.pdf}} sensitive anion trapping,{{Cite journal|last=Martínez‐Martínez|first=Antonio J.|last2=Fuentes|first2=M.
