"Every Night I Say a Prayer" is a song by English recording artist Little Boots, released as the second single from her second studio album, Nocturnes (2013). Written with Hercules and Love Affair's Andy Butler, the song was released as a limited edition 12" vinyl to commemorate Record Store Day on 21 April 2012, and Little Boots performed a set at Rough Trade East on the same day. The song was later released as a free download on 23 April.{{cite web |url=http://littlebootsblog.tumblr.com/post/20902567254/this-is-the-news |title=this is the news |publisher=Tumblr |date=11 April 2012 |accessdate=12 April 2012}}{{cite web |url=http://www.popjustice.com/thenews/little-boots-is-releasing-a-song-she-did-with-hercules-and-love-affair/ |title=Little Boots is releasing a song she did with Hercules And Love Affair |publisher=Popjustice |date=11 April 2012 |accessdate=12 April 2012}} "Every Night I Say a Prayer" was originally included on Little Boots's mixtape Into the Future as its title track,{{cite web |last=Copsey |first=Robert |url=http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/news/a370356/little-boots-unveils-into-the-future-mixtape.html |title=Little Boots unveils 'Into The Future' mixtape |publisher=Digital Spy |date=9 March 2012 |accessdate=10 March 2012}} until the title changed.

To further promote the new single, Little Boots and Trax Records sent four remixes of the song to Nylon magazine, who published them for streaming on their website which will later be used as the American promotional release.{{cite web |url=http://www.nylonmag.com/?section=article&parid=7906 |title=Little Boots/Big Sound |work=Nylon |date=20 April 2012 |accessdate=20 April 2012 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20120502001750/http://www.nylonmag.com/?section=article&parid=7906 |archive-date=2 May 2012 |url-status=dead }}

The single was regarded by Michael Cragg from The Guardian, as one of the Top 5 modern disco tracks.{{cite news|last=Cragg|first=Michael|title=The top five modern disco tracks|url=https://www.theguardian.com/music/2012/may/21/top-five-modern-disco|accessdate=21 January 2013|date=21 May 2012|location=London|work=The Guardian}}

Critical reception

Genevieve Oliver of Pretty Much Amazing called the song a "sexy disco track" with elements of "euro-pop deconstructed and stark piano chords, a beat so irresistible it might as well have been constructed in a lab, and awesomely edited vocals, this is the kind of dark-pop jam-of-all-jams that comes along only once in a while".{{cite web |last=Oliver |first=Genevieve |url=http://prettymuchamazing.com/music/stream/little-boots-every-night-i-say-a-prayer |title=New: Little Boots – "Every Night I Say A Prayer" |publisher=Pretty Much Amazing |date=30 April 2012 |accessdate=2 May 2012}} Katherine St. Asaph of Popdust gave a mixed review stating, "[Little Boots] can't quite deliver the chorus like a true diva—her voice's too composed, not quite big enough—but fortunately, that's the only time she tries." St. Asaph continued, "The verses suit her much better; instead of going over the top, she processes her vocals to the texture of liquid metal, distant and slippery enough with reverb to slide right off the key into its cracks. This style has its predecessors, too—Kylie Minogue, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Sarah Cracknell alone make up an imposing list—but it complements Little Boots."{{cite web |last=St. Asaph |first=Katherine |url=http://popdust.com/2012/04/23/little-boots-every-night-i-say-a-prayer-review/ |title=The Singles Bar: Little Boots, "Every Night I Say A Prayer" |publisher=Popdust |date=23 April 2012 |accessdate=2 May 2012}} Bradley Stern of MuuMuse stated the track "tip-toes in between warm washes of '90's club pulsations, weird ambient noises bubbling in the background and a gorgeous piano melody [...] It's like stepping back in time, Rhythm of Love style!"{{cite web |last=Stern |first=Bradley |url=http://www.muumuse.com/2012/04/free-download-little-boots-every-night-i-say-a-prayer.html/ |title=Free Download: Little Boots – "Every Night I Say A Prayer" |publisher=MuuMuse |date=1 May 2012 |accessdate=2 May 2012}}
