In 2020, the team replaced the ageing MG with brand new Hyundai i30 Fastback N Performance cars{{Cite web|url=https://www.touringcartimes.com/2019/11/13/hyundai-name-debut-2020-new-look-excelr8-entry/|title=Hyundai name to debut in 2020 with new-look Excelr8 entry|date=13 November 2019|website=TouringCarTimes|language=en-US|access-date=13 November 2019}} that it had developed in house during the winter. Senna Proctor and Chris Smiley would share driving duties and both secured podium finishes, despite the COVID-19 pandemic restricting the amount of testing that was possible with the new car.

For 2021, EXCELR8 joined forces with Trade Price Cars to enter four Hyundais under the name EXCELR8 Trade Price Cars,{{cite web |title=Trade Price Cars Racing switches to Hyundai for 2021 BTCC season |url=https://www.autosport.com/btcc/news/153454/trade-price-switches-to-hyundai-for-2021-btcc-season |website=Autosport |date=12 November 2020 |access-date=23 February 2021}} retaining the services of Chris Smiley, and taking on Tom Ingram, Jack Butel, and Rick Parfitt Jr.{{cite web |title=Ingram announces 'multi-year' deal with Excelr8 Trade Price Cars |url=http://www.btcc.net/2021/01/20/ingram-announces-multi-year-deal-with-excelr8-trade-price-cars/ |website=BTCC |access-date=23 February 2021}}{{cite web |title=Smiley faces second season with Excelr8 Hyundai BTCC team |url=https://www.autosport.com/btcc/news/154595/smiley-remains-with-excelr8-hyundai-btcc-team |website=Autosport |date=15 January 2021 |access-date=23 February 2021}}{{cite web |title=Parfitt Jr completes Excelr8 Hyundai BTCC squad for 2021 |url=https://www.autosport.com/btcc/news/155176/parfitt-jr-completes-excelr8-hyundai-btcc-squad |website=Autosport |date=23 February 2021 |access-date=23 February 2021}}
