History
The executive council, often referred to as 'the office of the governor', was first legally provisioned in the Letters Patent, enacted in 1986.{{cite book |last1=Garis |first1=Brian |title=The History of Western Australia's Constitution and Attempts at Its Reform |date=December 2003|url=http://classic.austlii.edu.au/au/journals/UWALawRw/2003/9.pdf |access-date=22 October 2023}}{{rp|145}} However, it has effectively existed since 1832. This is due to the Governor being a member of the Legislative Council at the time. Meaning the functions of the current executive council were included in the Upper House.{{rp|143}}
