Exosite
{{for|the software company|Exosite (company)}}
An exosite is a secondary binding site, remote from the active site, on an enzyme or other protein.{{cite journal |last1=Yegneswaran |first1=S. |last2=Tiefenbrunn |first2=T. K. |last3=Fernández |first3=J. A. |last4=Dawson |first4=P. E. |title=Manipulation of thrombin exosite I, by ligand-directed covalent modification |journal=Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis |date=October 2007 |volume=5 |issue=10 |pages=2062–2069 |doi=10.1111/j.1538-7836.2007.02712.x |pmid=17883702 |s2cid=38198958 |doi-access=free }}
This is similar to allosteric sites, but differs in the fact that, in order for an enzyme to be active, its exosite typically must be occupied.{{cite journal |last1=Lockett |first1=J.
