Club career
Fajr started playing in the Syrian League with Al-Wahda team in 1979. He remained with the club until he retired from the playing. International career
Fajr played several international matches with Syria for five years from 1982 until 1987.
Coaching career
He managed the Syrian first team more than 50 matches between 2006 and 2019. He did an emergency mission and replaced the German manager Bernd Stange in the last match for the team in 2019 Asian Cup against Australia. Many pundits referred that he had the UAE visa since the middle of December,{{cite web|url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9c7Aky2g8c|script-title=ar:مداخلة فجر إبراهيم في برنامج المجلس بعد تعيينه مدرباً لمنتخب سوريا|website=SHOOT HD|language=Arabic|date=10 January 2019 |title=- YouTube }}{{cbignore}}{{Dead Youtube links|date=February 2022}} so he could be ready to replace the manager if the things went wrong.
Widely unpopular with the fans and criticized by the media,{{cite web|url=https://m.kooora.com/?n=824452&pg=2&o=n3038973|script-title=ar:مصير مدرب سوريا بين مطرقة الوديات وضغط الجمهور|website=Kooora|language=Arabic|date=19 June 2019}} Ibrahim is often considered one of the reasons for the Syria national team's poor results after their 2019 Asian Cup exit,{{cite web|url=https://m.kooora.com/?n=821949&pg=2&o=n3038973|script-title=ar:3 أسباب تعجل برحيل مدرب سوريا|website=Kooora|language=Arabic|date=9 June 2019}} citing his lack of achievements,{{cite web|url=https://www.foxsportsasia.com/football/asian-football/malaysia-super-league/876917/fajr-ibrahim-throws-towel-wants-quit-kelantan-three-games-charge/|title=Coach Fajr Ibrahim wants to quit Kelantan after three games in charge|website=Fox Sports Asia|date=4 May 2018|access-date=5 September 2019|archive-date=25 August 2019|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20190825012204/https://www.foxsportsasia.com/football/asian-football/malaysia-super-league/876917/fajr-ibrahim-throws-towel-wants-quit-kelantan-three-games-charge/|url-status=dead}} and lack of vision,{{cite web|url=https://news.yahoo.com/intercontinental-cup-2019-fajr-ibrahim-180528168.html#|title=Intercontinental Cup 2019: Fajr Ibrahim - India have a different mentality now|website=Yahoo!|date=16 July 2019}} as some of his weakest traits, although Syria at that time had already in problem before Fajr took charge.{{cite web|url=https://m.kooora.com/?n=839086&o=n3038973|script-title=ar:نتائج سوريا في غرب آسيا مخزية|website=Kooora|language=Arabic|date=14 August 2019}} However, he has repeatedly and openly refused to resign and has been kept as manager by the Syrian Federation,{{cite web|url=https://m.kooora.com/?n=839084&o=n3038973|script-title=ar:الاتحاد الرياضي العام يجدد الثقة بالمدير الفني لمنتخب سوريا|website=Kooora|language=Arabic|date=14 August 2019}} despite losing to many lesser-ranked and weaker teams, much to the bewilderment of both fans and journalists.{{cite web|url=https://m.kooora.com/?n=839548&o=n1000324|script-title=ar:عفش يستغرب بقاء فجر إبراهيم|website=Kooora|language=Arabic|date=16 August 2019}}
However, the sentiment changed surprisingly during the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification – AFC second round.
