The Fier Power Station was Albania's largest thermal power plant having 6 identical groups of 31 MW[http://www.platts.com/Analytic%20Solutions/UDI%20Data%20&%20Directories/Electricity%20Bookmarks/countryprofile.html Fier Power Plant] each thus totalling a capacity of 186 MW, it was the largest Albanian combined heat and power plant. It was constructed in the 1960s by the Albanian Electric Power Company and had a connected fertilizer factory. It was powered by steam, the steam was generated from oil. Around 2000, the power output had drastically decreased to 20 megawatts.
