Fair use rationales

We assert that this is fair use in the Dungeons & Dragons controversies article, which uses the image as a prominent example of criticism of Dungeons & Dragons, since it is a small low quality piece of a larger work and the work is discussed at that page. This is transformative use very different from the use the copyright holder makes of the image. Chick's cartoons are iconic and authentic in a way that a free alternative would be unlikely to be.

The use at Chick tract also qualifies as fair use. That page discusses this particular tract at some length in an encyclopedic way, displaying a picture from it adds significantly to the information value of the section in question without harming the copyright holder's ability to make use of his work.
