Background and development
"Fire Flame" was written by Birdman, Lil Wayne, Mr Beatz and Kill Will, with the latter also handling the song's production. The song originally leaked onto the internet as a Birdman solo song, with no vocals from Wayne: Wayne's vocals were later recorded at The Hit Factory, a recording studio in Miami, during his first recording session since being released from Rikers Island following a nine-month prison sentence for illegal possession of a weapon.{{cite web|last=Rodriguez|first=Jayson|title=Lil Wayne Released From Prison|url=http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1651483/lil-wayne-released-from-prison.jhtml|archive-url=https://archive.today/20120519161722/http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1651483/lil-wayne-released-from-prison.jhtml|url-status=dead|archive-date=May 19, 2012|work=MTV News|publisher=MTV Networks|access-date=November 15, 2011|date=November 15, 2010}}{{cite web|last=Rodriguez|first=Jayson|title=Lil Wayne's First Post-Prison Rhymes Hit The Web|url=http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1652322/lil-waynes-first-postprison-rhymes-hit-web.jhtml|archive-url=https://archive.today/20130129102944/http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1652322/lil-waynes-first-postprison-rhymes-hit-web.jhtml|url-status=dead|archive-date=January 29, 2013|work=MTV News|publisher=MTV Networks|access-date=November 15, 2011|date=November 15, 2010}}{{cite web|last=Kaufman|first=Gil|title=Exclusive: Lil Wayne Logs '15-Hour' Post-Prison Studio Session|url=http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1651905/exclusive-lil-wayne-logs-15hour-postprison-studio-session.jhtml|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110120221722/http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1651905/exclusive-lil-wayne-logs-15hour-postprison-studio-session.jhtml|url-status=dead|archive-date=January 20, 2011|work=MTV News|publisher=MTV Networks|access-date=November 15, 2011|author2=Dukes, Rahman|date=November 9, 2010}}
