Controversy

Prior to being named, The Oklahoman described the alley as "littered with open dumpsters and poorly lit at night." Mayor Mick Cornett called the description "an exaggeration," and that the alleyway was "very high-profile and very safe and clean."{{Cite web |last=Montgomery |first=James |title=Is Oklahoma City's Flaming Lips Alley A Fitting Tribute Or An Insult? |url=http://www.mtv.com/news/1544764/is-oklahoma-citys-flaming-lips-alley-a-fitting-tribute-or-an-insult/ |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160201190936/http://www.mtv.com/news/1544764/is-oklahoma-citys-flaming-lips-alley-a-fitting-tribute-or-an-insult/ |url-status=dead |archive-date=February 1, 2016 |access-date=August 12, 2019 |website=MTV News |language=en}}

Attractions

Much of the alley is behind the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, the home of the Oklahoma City Dodgers, the city's Minor League Baseball team. On the corner of Flaming Lips Alley and South Mickey Mantle Drive is the entrance to the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame.
