Together with the men's competition, the 2024 Summer Olympics football tournament was held at seven stadiums in seven cities in France.

In addition to host nation France, eleven women's national teams qualified from six separate continental confederations. The women's tournament was a full international tournament with no restrictions on age. Each team had to submit a squad of 18 players, two of whom had to be goalkeepers.
