Forgetters are a punk rock band from Brooklyn, New York. In August 2009, shortly after the breakup of the Thorns of Life, Blake Schwarzenbach (formerly of Jets to Brazil and Jawbreaker) announced his involvement in a new band, forgetters,{{cite web |url= http://www.punknews.org/article/34913 |title=Thorns of Life (2008-2009); Schwarzenbach forms new band with ex-Against Me! drummer |first= |last= |work=punknews.org |year=2009}} with original Against Me! drummer Kevin Mahon{{cite web |url= http://www.killyourstereo.com/news/7159/forgetters-to-release-album/ |title=forgetters to release album|first= |last= |work=killyourstereo.com |year=2010}} and Caroline Paquita.{{cite web |url=http://blogs.seattleweekly.com/reverb/2011/01/blake_schwarzenbach_brings_the.php |title=Blake Schwarzenbach Brings the forgetters--Along With the Ghost, Spirit, and Sound of Jawbreaker--to Vera Last Night |first= |last= |work=blogs.seattleweekly.com |year=2011 |access-date=2012-02-01 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110204134540/http://blogs.seattleweekly.com/reverb/2011/01/blake_schwarzenbach_brings_the.php |archive-date=2011-02-04 |url-status=dead }}
In November 2009, the Village Voice remarked that "If they wanted to, probably, forgetters... could be a 'supergroup'—drummer Kevin Mahon played in the first Against Me! lineup, and bassist Caroline Paquita was in Bitchin'—but mostly they keep a low profile".{{cite web |url= http://blogs.villagevoice.com/music/2009/11/catching_up_wit.php |title=Catching Up With Blake Schwarzenbach's forgetters |first=Zach |last=Baron |work=blogs.villagevoice.com |year=2009}} The band has been described as "a lean, rough power trio" by the Chicago Reader.{{cite web |url= http://www.chicagoreader.com/chicago/forgetters-97-shiki/Event?oid=2344196 |title=forgetters, 97-Shiki |first= |last= |work=chicagoreader.com |year=2010}}
Their first recording, a self-titled double 7" featuring the songs "Vampire Lessons", "Too Small to Fail", "Not Funny", and "The Night Accelerates", was released on the band's own label, Too Small to Fail Records, on September 21, 2010.{{cite web |url= http://www.punknews.org/article/39189 |title=Studio material from forgetters on the way |first= |last= |work=punknews.org |year=2010}}{{cite web |url= http://blogs.riverfronttimes.com/rftmusic/2010/08/forgetters_2010_tour_dates_blake_schwarzenbach_jawbreaker_jets_brazil_st_louis_ciceros_october_8.php |title=forgetters -- Fronted by Jawbreaker/Jets to Brazil's Blake Schwarzenbach -- Coming to St. Louis - St. Louis Music - RFTmusic |first=Annie |last=Zaleski |work=blogs.riverfronttimes.com |year=2010}} "Too Small to Fail" was a reference to the band's tour in late 2009 and early 2010 through the northeast and southeast United States.{{cite web |url= http://exclaim.ca/Features/Timeline/Jawbreaker-Days_of_Whine_Poses/Page/5 |title=Jawbreaker - Days of Whine and Poses (Page 5) |first=Sam |last=Sutherland |work=exclaim.ca |year=2010}} The EP was released to positive reviews; Willamette Week called it "a gorgeously drunken stumble through the East Bay's fog and smog".{{cite web |url=http://wweek.com/portland/event-41728-forgetters_street_eaters_social_graces.html |title=forgetters, Street Eaters, Social Graces |first= |last= |work=wweek.com |year= |access-date=2012-02-01 |archive-url=https://archive.today/20120716025554/http://wweek.com/portland/event-41728-forgetters_street_eaters_social_graces.html |archive-date=2012-07-16 |url-status=dead }}
In early 2011, forgetters mounted a tour of the West Coast with Street Eaters,{{cite web |url= http://www.altpress.com/news/entry/forgetters_ex_jawbreaker_plot_west_coast_tour |title=forgetters (ex-Jawbreaker) plot West Coast tour |first=Scott |last=Heisel |work=altpress.com |year=2010}} and in April and May 2011, the band embarked on a European tour.{{cite web |url= http://www.altpress.com/news/entry/forgetters_ex-jawbreaker_schedule_european_tour |title=forgetters (ex-Jawbreaker) schedule European tour |first=Scott |last=Heisel |work=altpress.com |year=2011}} Paquita left the band after the European tour. There were rumors that the band had broken up, but in early 2012, a photograph[http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=161823753932101&set=o.38556359351] {{dead link|date=September 2020}} emerged that indicated forgetters was still recording as a duo. On November 13, 2012, the band released its debut album, produced by J. Robbins who also played the bass guitar on the record.
Following the release of their full length, the band quietly ceased operations and eventually disbanded in 2013. In 2017, Schwarzenbach reunited with Jawbreaker.{{Cite web|url=https://pitchfork.com/news/72987-jawbreaker-reunite-after-21-years-for-riot-fest-2017/|title=Jawbreaker Reunite After 21 Years for Riot Fest 2017|first=Amanda|last=Wicks|website=Pitchfork.com|date=19 April 2017 |accessdate=22 September 2020}}{{Cite web|url=https://exclaim.ca/music/article/blake_schwarzenbach_says_he_reunited_jawbreaker_because_he_couldnt_even_get_a_job_as_a_dog_walker|title=Blake Schwarzenbach Says He Reunited Jawbreaker Because He Couldn't Even Get a Job as a Dog Walker|website=Exclaim.ca|accessdate=22 September 2020}}
