Frizington is a village in the Cumberland district of Cumbria, England. It lies to the north-west of the Lake District National Park. Historically, it was a collection of farms and houses, but became a unified village as a result of the mining (both coal and iron ore) opportunities in the area. The village is known for its church, which was built in 1867–1868.
Location
It lies by road {{convert|5|mi|km|0|abbr=off|spell=on}} east of Whitehaven, {{convert|38|mi|km|0|abbr=off}} southwest of Carlisle, and {{convert|44+1/2|mi|km|0|abbr=off}} north of Barrow-in-Furness.
Toponymy

Governance
Frizington forms part of the civil parish of Arlecdon and Frizington. Arlecdon and Frizington Urban District was abolished in 1934. June 2010 shootings
