Cross-Strait Relations
In January 2025, the Fujian provincial government released a new document that listed new incentives aimed at enhancing the readiness and professionalism of maritime militia forces, especially those expected to play a critical role in a potential Taiwan conflict. The policy introduces financial rewards, job security, and social benefits to encourage greater training participation and improve operational reliability. This move represents a notable effort to tackle persistent morale and compensation challenges within China’s militia system. The maritime militia remains a vital element of the Chinese Communist Party’s broader strategic agenda, particularly in enforcing its claims in the South China Sea and other contested maritime areas.{{Cite web |title=Fujian Unveils Incentives for Militia Training for a Cross-Strait Campaign |url=https://jamestown.org/program/fujians-unveils-incentives-for-militia-training-for-a-cross-strait-campaign/ |access-date=2025-04-17 |website=jamestown.org |language=en-US}}{{Cite web |title=福建省人民政府 福建省军区关于印发《福建省民兵权益保障办法》的通知_ 行政规范性文件_福建省人民政府门户网站 |url=https://www.fujian.gov.cn/zwgk/zfxxgk/szfwj/jgzz/xzgfxwj/202501/t20250127_6710120.htm |access-date=2025-04-17 |website=www.fujian.gov.cn}}{{Cite web |title=Fujian Unveils Incentives for Militia Training for a Cross-Strait Campaign {{!}} Andrew S.
