History

Established in 1959 as the radio news and commentary division of Metro Manila radio station DZBB, GMA-IN is one of the oldest news and public affairs departments in any Philippine media network. Throughout its long existence, it pioneered trends in radio and TV news gathering and current affairs production.
In October 2022, following the retirement of Marissa Flores as the head of GMA News and Public Affairs, GMA Public Affairs was split into a separate division, and GMA News was subsequently renamed "GMA Integrated News" under the leadership of Oliver Victor Amoroso. The rebranding is intended to emphasize the combined resources of its television, digital, radio, and regional platforms as a singular, multi-platform news operation.{{Cite web |title=MULTIMEDIA NEWS LEADER IN THE PHILIPPINES: GMA News is now GMA Integrated News |url=https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/topstories/nation/851469/gma-news-is-now-gma-integrated-news/story/ |access-date=2022-12-15 |website=GMA News Online |date=November 15, 2022 |language=en |archive-date=December 15, 2022 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20221215102225/https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/topstories/nation/851469/gma-news-is-now-gma-integrated-news/story/ |url-status=live }}
Campaigns
= GMA Integrated News Weather Center (formerly IMReady) =
The GMA Integrated News Weather Center is the news division's weather forecasting subdivision originally launched in 2010 as IMReady, a public safety and preparedness campaign of GMA Integrated News' predecessor, GMA News and Public Affairs. IMReady is the country's first 24/7, one-stop shop for public safety information.{{Cite web |date=February 28, 2014 |title=GMA Network launches 'IM Ready' portal for public safety |url=https://www.gmanetwork.com/corporate/articles/2014-02-28/96/gma-network-launches-im-ready-portal-for-public-safety |access-date=2023-04-19 |website=www.gmanetwork.com |language=en |archive-date=April 21, 2014 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20140421083830/http://www.gmanetwork.com/corporate/articles/2014-02-28/96/GMA-Network-launches-IM-Ready-portal-for-public-safety |url-status=live }}
IMReady was forged through a partnership between GMA and several government agencies including DOST-PAGASA and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA). It also draws support from GMA's collaboration with Google and Waze.https://m.facebook.com/notes/imready/our-story/1303491863093678/ {{Webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20230420123441/https://m.facebook.com/login.php?next=https%3A%2F%2Fm.facebook.com%2Fnotes%2Fimready%2Four-story%2F1303491863093678%2F&refsrc=deprecated&_rdr |date=April 20, 2023 }} {{User-generated source|certain=yes|date=March 2022}}
In 2014, GMA New Media, the technology and digital arm of GMA launched the mobile application IMReady wherein users can see real-time information and updates including weather, traffic situations, and news alerts. It is available on iOS and Android phones.{{Cite web |date=May 15, 2014 |title=GMA offers free download of IMReady mobile app |url=https://www.adobomagazine.com/digital-news/gma-offers-free-download-of-imready-mobile-app/ |access-date=May 14, 2020 |archive-date=December 4, 2022 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20221204130117/https://www.adobomagazine.com/digital-news/gma-offers-free-download-of-imready-mobile-app/ |url-status=live }}
As part of the changes within GMA Integrated News, IMReady was renamed to GMA Integrated News Weather Center in 2023, focusing on weather forecasting with an 'expanded' roster of forecasters, succeeding Nathaniel Cruz, who retired as its resident meteorologist.{{Cite web |date=December 22, 2022 |title=Ang News Authority ng Filipino: GMA Integrated News Dominates All Media |url=https://www.gmanetwork.com/entertainment/showbiznews/news/96270/ang-news-authority-ng-filipino-gma-integrated-news-dominates-all-media/story |access-date=January 4, 2023 |website=www.gmanetwork.com |language=en |archive-date=December 22, 2022 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20221222130207/https://www.gmanetwork.com/entertainment/showbiznews/news/96270/ang-news-authority-ng-filipino-gma-integrated-news-dominates-all-media/story |url-status=live }}{{Cite web |date=November 23, 2023 |title=An era ended when Mang Tani retired.
