These are all located in Spain, in either Asturias or Castile and León.{{cite news|url=http://www.galicia-hoxe.com/index_2.php?idMenu=77&idNoticia=95273|title=A Galiza irredenta tambén existe!|first=Igor|last=Lugris|newspaper=Galicia Hoxe|date=20 October 2006|language=gl|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20070902231535/http://www.galicia-hoxe.com/index_2.php?idMenu=77&idNoticia=95273|archive-date=2 September 2007|url-status=dead}}{{cite news|url=https://www.diariodeleon.es/articulo/tribunas/galicia-irredenta-bierzo/20051215000000812535.html|title=La Galicia irredenta en el Bierzo|first=Manuel|last=Baelo Álvarez|newspaper=Diario de León|date=15 December 2005|language=es}} These territories are sometimes divided into three subregions: El Bierzo ({{lang|gl|O Bierzo}} in Galician), Eo-Navia ({{lang|gl|Eo-Navia}} in Galician) and As Portelas (or Upper Sanabria, {{lang|gl|As Portelas}} or {{lang|gl|Alta Seabra}} in Galician).{{cite news|url=http://www.galiciaconfidencial.com/noticia/69660-convenio-potencie-galego-historica-rexion-galegofalante-bierzo|title=Para cando un convenio que potencie o galego na histórica rexión galegofalante do Bierzo?|newspaper=Galicia Confidencial|date=2 February 2018|language=gl}}
There have been several attempts from these territories to join Galicia. An example is Porto de Sanabria, a small village where, in 2018, a vote was organized to join to the region due to the lack of response from the government of Castile and León to requests from locals to fix a road. 202 people voted in favor, 19 against and 6 did a blank vote. However, this vote did not intend any official change and was only made to know the inhabitants' opinion.{{cite news|url=https://www.abc.es/espana/galicia/abci-porto-pueblo-zamorano-voto-referendum-anexionarse-galicia-201808281242_noticia.html|title=Porto, el pueblo zamorano que votó en 'referéndum' anexionarse a Galicia|newspaper=ABC|date=28 August 2018|language=es}}
Another example was El Bierzo, a comarca where more people prefer to join Galicia than stay in Castile and León. People have proposed turning it into a new province of Spain and joining it into Galicia.{{cite news|url=https://www.nosdiario.gal/articulo/politica/comarca-do-bierzo-aposta-constituir-como-provincia-preferencia-facelo-unindose-galiza/20200525080517098271.html|title=A comarca do Bierzo aposta por se constituír como provincia, con preferencia por facelo uníndose a Galiza|newspaper=Nós Diario|date=25 May 2020|language=gl}} This initiative became more serious when a request was sent in 2021 to the Xunta de Galicia, asking to recognize El Bierzo as a new province of Galicia.{{cite news|url=https://www.nosdiario.gal/articulo/politica/o-bierzo/20210128145758114678.html|title=A reivindicación dun Bierzo integrado na Galiza chega ao Parlamento galego|newspaper=Nós Diario|date=28 January 2021|language=gl}} This proposal was rejected by the Spanish prominent parties PP and PSOE.{{cite news|url=https://www.elplural.com/autonomias/pp-psoe-tumban-propuesta-bng-reconocer-bierzo-provincia-incorporarla-galicia_264109102|title=PP y PSOE tumban la propuesta del BNG para reconocer El Bierzo como provincia e incorporarla a Galicia|first=Natalia|last=Cabo|newspaper=El Plural|date=14 April 2021|language=es}}
