Gogoi mentioned that since Prime Minister Modi choose to remain silent on the Manipur issue, opposition parties under I.N.D.I.A alliance had to move on No Confidence Motion against his government. I.N.D.I.A. alliance wanted Prime Minister to address parliament on Manipur violence. This no-confidence motion failed to succeed since it did not garner enough support from members in the Parliament.
On 26 may 2025, he was elected as president of Assam Congress Committee by the National Committee.{{cite web |url=https://inc.in/media/press-releases/press-release-appointments-in-assam-pradesh-congress-committee |title=Press Release - Appointments in Assam Pradesh Congress Committee |publisher=Indian National Congress |date=26 May 2025 |access-date=28 May 2025}}
