The Starship 7 was first introduced by Geely Galaxy with a set of images on 22 October 2024.{{Cite web |last=网易新闻 |date=2024-10-22 |title=吉利银河星舰7:依靠吉利混动技术,就能突出重围? |url=https://finance.sina.com.cn/roll/2024-10-22/doc-inctmssx7696276.shtml |access-date=2024-11-09 |website=finance.sina.com.cn}} The model started pre-sales on 8 November 2024. Its styling, including some body panels, largely mirrored the fully electric Geely Galaxy E5 / Geely EX5, both sharing the same Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture (GEA) vehicle platform. The Starship 7 adopts the second-generation NordThor 2.0 powertrain, badged EM-i, becoming the first vehicle to use the powertrain.{{Cite web |date=2024-10-22 |title=Geely Galaxy Starship 7 shown – Proton eMas 7 PHEV gets next-gen Thor powertrain, up to 150 km EV range - paultan.org |url=https://paultan.org/2024/10/22/geely-galaxy-starship-7-shown-proton-emas-7-phev-gets-next-gen-thor-powertrain-up-to-150-km-ev-range/ |access-date=2024-11-09 |website=Paul Tan's Automotive News |language=en-US}}

The system employs a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine designed with modifications to enhance air swirl within the combustion chamber, achieving a reported thermal efficiency of 46.5%, slightly ahead of BYD's DM-i 5.0 plug-in hybrid powertrain.{{Cite web |date=2024-11-01 |title=Geely Galaxy Starship 7 EM-i PHEV system detailed – 46.5% thermal efficiency, 2.67 l/100km, 2,390 km range - paultan.org |url=https://paultan.org/2024/11/01/geely-galaxy-starship-7-em-i-phev-system-detailed-46-5-thermal-efficiency-2-67-l-100km-2390-km-range/ |access-date=2024-11-09 |website=Paul Tan's Automotive News |language=en-US}} The engine delivers an output of {{convert|111|PS|hp kW|0|abbr=on}} and {{convert|136|Nm|kgm lbft||abbr=on|sigfig=3}} of torque. This engine is paired with an 11-to-1 electrified dedicated hybrid transmission (E-DHT) that includes both the P1 integrated starter-generator and the P3 drive motor, generating a combined output of {{convert|160|kW|hp PS|0|abbr=on}} and {{convert|262|Nm|kgm lbft||abbr=on|sigfig=3}} of torque. The Starship 7 is capable of accelerating from {{convert|0-100|km/h|mph|0|abbr=on}} in 7.5 seconds.

The vehicle offers two Aegis Short Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery options: an 8.5 kWh battery with an all-electric range of {{convert|55|km|mi|0|abbr=on}} on the CLTC cycle and a larger 19.09 kWh battery providing up to {{convert|120|km|mi|0|abbr=on}} of electric range. Combined with a 51-litre fuel tank and the petrol engine, the total driving range reaches up to {{convert|1420|km|mi|0|abbr=on}}, with fuel consumption rated at {{convert|3.75|l/100km|km/l mpgus|0|abbr=on}}.{{Cite web |title=【图】1.5L插混动力 纯电续航120km 吉利银河星舰7 EM-i预售10.98万起_汽车之家 |url=https://www.autohome.com.cn/news/202411/1301784.html |access-date=2024-11-09 |website=www.autohome.com.cn}}

The vehicle is equipped with DC fast charging capabilities with a maximum input rate of approximately 36 kW. According to Geely, charging the battery from 30% to 80% takes 20 minutes. Additionally, the model features a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function.{{Cite web |date=2024-11-06 |title=Geely Galaxy Starship 7 in China – Proton eMas 7 PHEV, up to 120 km EV range, 1,420 km total range - paultan.org |url=https://paultan.org/2024/11/06/geely-galaxy-starship-7-in-china-proton-emas-7-phev-up-to-120-km-ev-range-1420-km-total-range/ |access-date=2024-11-09 |website=Paul Tan's Automotive News |language=en-US}}

The software of the vehicle adopts the Flyme Auto car operating system and the Flyme Sound audio system developed in conjunction with Meizu, which is owned by Geely.{{Cite web |date=2024-11-08 |title=【图】1.5L插混动力 纯电续航120km 吉利银河星舰7 EM-i预售10.98万起_汽车之家 |trans-title=1.5L plug-in hybrid power pure electric range 120km Geely Galaxy Starship 7 EM-i pre-sale starts at 109,800 |url=https://www.autohome.com.cn/news/202411/1301784.html |access-date=2024-11-09 |website=www.autohome.com.cn}}
