Reception

Esther Keller in her review for Library Media Connection said "This book is primed with material for reluctant readers, but the clunky shifts of tenses at the start of the book may throw them off. Even so, it’s worth sticking with to discover the twists and turns."{{cite journal|last=Keller|first=Esther|date=August 2007|title=Genesis Alpha|journal=Library Media Connection|volume= 26|issue= 1|pages=68|issn=1542-4715}} Frances Bradburn reviewing for Booklist called it a "fascinating, troubling thriller."{{cite journal|last=Bradburn|first=Frances|date=May 1, 2007|title=Genesis Alpha|journal=Booklist|volume= 103|issue= 17|pages=44|issn=0006-7385}} Anthony C. Doyle reviewing for the School Library Journal did not recommend the novel saying "readers looking for a novel about a sibling's criminality would be better served by Patricia McCormick's My Brother's Keeper, and those looking for stories about tissue donation and sibling illness could try Jodi Picoult's My Sister's Keeper"{{cite journal|last=Doyle|first=Anthony C|date=July 2007|journal=School Library Journal|volume= 53|issue= 7|pages=106–107|issn=0362-8930 |title=Genesis Alpha}}
