Lieutenant-General George Morton Eden (10 May 1806 – November 1862) was a British Army officer who became General Officer Commanding Western District.
Military career
Born the fourth son of Sir Frederick Eden, 2nd Baronet and Anne Smith, Eden was commissioned into the 84th Regiment of Foot on 18 July 1822.{{cite web|url=https://archive.org/stream/newannualarmylis1851lond/newannualarmylis1851lond_djvu.txt|title=New Army List|year=1851|accessdate=3 December 2015}} He subsequently transferred into the 52nd Regiment of Foot and then went to Jamaica, a deployment where many troops died through illness, with the 56th Regiment of Foot.{{cite web|url=https://api.parliament.uk/historic-hansard/commons/1861/jun/07/appointment-of-major-general-eden-c|title=Appointment of Major-General Eden|work=Parliamentary Debates (Hansard)|date=7 June 1861|access-date=3 December 2015}} He became General Officer Commanding Western District in 1855.{{cite book|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=NlMBAAAAQAAJ|title=Standing Orders of the Western District|year=1858|publisher=W.
