George Washington Moon (1823 – 1909) was an English writer, poet and critic of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.
Moon published several poems, contributed to the Dictionary of National Biography, and wrote a number of books on English grammar. Several of these books were lengthy compilations of the purported grammatical errors of specific writers,[https://library.leeds.ac.uk/special-collections/collection/1450/george_washington_moon_1823-1909 George Washington Moon (1823-1909).] which led to vigorous counterattacks and controversies.{{cite web|title=Goodnight Moon: A Tribute to George Washington Moon|author=David M.
