Geosoft Incorporated is a software development and services company headquartered in Toronto, Canada. The company provides geophysical and geological software and geospatial server technology for professional geoscientists involved in natural resource exploration and related earth science disciplines.{{cite web | url=http://www.branham300.com/details.php?year=2012&company_ID=131 | title=Branham300: Geosoft | year=2012 | publisher=Branham Group Inc | accessdate=2012-04-27}}

History

Geosoft was founded in Toronto in 1982 as a partnership between Ian MacLeod and Colin Reeves{{cite web |url=http://www.geosoft.com/about-geosoft/company/history-and-mission |title=The Geosoft Story | publisher=Geosoft Inc | accessdate=2012-04-02}} to develop geophysical software for geophysical exploration and geotechnical engineering applications. The interests of the partnership and the trademark "Geosoft" were purchased by Paterson, Grant and Watson Ltd. in 1984,{{cite web | url=http://www.cipo.ic.gc.ca/app/opic-cipo/trdmrks/srch/vwTrdmrk.do?lang=eng&status=OK&fileNumber=0516757&extension=0&startingDocumentIndexOnPage=1 | title=Canadian Trade-Mark Data: Geosoft | publisher=Canadian Trade-marks Database, Canadian Intellectual Property Office | accessdate=2012-04-27}} who continued to develop Geosoft branded software for geophysical applications.

The software interests of Paterson, Grant and Watson were spun off to form Geosoft Incorporated on February 1, 1986.

In July, 2007, Geosoft acquired the software rights to the potential-field modelling program GM-SYS from Corvallis, Oregon company Northwest Geophysical Associates

In December 2018, Geosoft was acquired by Seequent{{cite web |url=https://www.seequent.com/seequent-completes-geosoft-acquisition/|title=Seequent Completes Acquisition of Geosoft|year=2018 |accessdate=2020-05-18}}
