Gephyromantis is a frog genus in the mantellid subfamily Mantellinae. This genus is restricted to Madagascar. At present it contains 45 species divided into six subgenera.{{cite web|last1=Frost|first1=Darrel R.|title=Gephyromantis Methuen, 1920|url=http://research.amnh.org/vz/herpetology/amphibia/Amphibia/Anura/Mantellidae/Mantellinae/Gephyromantis|website=Amphibian Species of the World 6.0, an Online Reference|accessdate=7 May 2016}}{{cite journal|last1=Vences|first1=Miguel|last2=Köhler|first2=Jörn|last3=Pabijan|first3=Maciej|last4=Bletz|first4=Molly|last5=Gehring|first5=Philip-Sebastian|last6=Hawlitschek|first6=Oliver|last7=Rakotoarison|first7=Andolalao|last8=Ratsoavina|first8=Fanomazena M.|last9=Andreone|first9=Franco|last10=Crottini|first10=Angelica|last11=Glaw|first11=Frank|title=Taxonomy and geographic distribution of Malagasy frogs of the Gephyromantis asper clade, with description of a new subgenus and revalidation of Gephyromantis ceratophrys|journal=Salamandra|date=2017|volume=53|pages=77–98}}

Taxonomy

The genus Gephyromantis was erected by Methuen in 1920 for the species Gephyromantis boulengeri.{{cite journal|last1=Methuen|first1=P. A.|title=Descriptions of a new snake from the Transvaal, together with a new diagnosis and key to the genus Xenocalamus, and of some Batrachia from Madagascar|journal=Proceedings of the Zoological Society of London|date=1920|volume=1919|pages=349–355}} Blommers-Schlösser considered this group as a subgenus of Mantidactylus,{{cite journal|last1=Blommers-Schlösser|first1=R. M. A.|title=Biosystematics of the Malagasy frogs I.
