She also said she was influenced by several musical genres, including rap, afrobeat, dancehall and R&B.{{cite web|last1=Offiong|first1=Adie|title=Rap is competitive for women – Eva|url=http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/weekly/index.php/magazine-cover/4010-rap-is-competitive-for-women-eva|publisher=Weekly Trust|accessdate=12 July 2014|date=7 April 2012}} The EP's artwork and photography were designed by Ugo Daté and Obi Somto, respectively.{{cite web|title=Eva Alordiah – The GIGO EP|url=http://www.jaguda.com/2011/11/20/eva-alordiah-the-gigo-ep/|publisher=Jaguda|accessdate=11 July 2014|date=20 November 2011}}
Recording and releases
Eva started working on The GIGO EP as an independent artist. The Sossick-produced track "I Done Did it" was released as the lead single.{{cite web|url=http://www.ynaija.com/the-gigo-ep-countdown-to-november-20-for-female-rapper-eva-alordiahs-1st-release/ |title=Eva Alordiah prepares to drop The GIGO EP |publisher=Ynaija.com |date=2011-11-09 |accessdate=2014-05-08}}{{cite web |url=http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/eva-8217-s-gigo-ep-album/103599/ |title=Eva GIGO EP Album |publisher=Thisday Live |date=2011-11-25 |accessdate=2014-05-08 |url-status=dead |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20141014211621/http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/eva-8217-s-gigo-ep-album/103599/ |archivedate=2014-10-14 }} In an interview with MTV Iggy's Halley Bondy in 2012, Eva said she was honored to have worked with the aforementioned producer and had fun recording the EP.{{cite web|last=Bondy |first=Halley |url=http://www.mtviggy.com/interviews/against-the-grain-with-nigerias-rising-mc-eva/ |title=Against the Grain with Nigeria's Rising MC, Eva |publisher=Mtv Iggy |date=2012-07-02 |accessdate=2014-05-08}}
Eva released the second single, "High", in 2012. The accompanying music video for the song, which was directed by Mex and uploaded to YouTube on May 24, 2012, premiered on MTV Base that same month.{{cite web|url=http://www.thenigerianvoice.com/movie/91045/3/brand-new-video-high-by-eva-alordiah.html |title=Brand New Video - High by Eva Alordiah |publisher=Thenigerianvoice.com |date=2012-05-27 |accessdate=2014-05-08}}{{cite web|title=FAB Music: Alordiah Alordiah to debut new music video on MTV Base|url=http://fabmagazineonline.com/fab-music-Alordiah-alordiah-to-debut-new-music-video-on-mtv-base/|publisher=fabmagazine|accessdate=12 March 2014}}{{Dead link|date=June 2018 |bot=InternetArchiveBot |fix-attempted=no }} Following the song's release, many people misconstrue its meaning and thought it alluded to drug use and drug abuse. In the aforementioned interview with Bondy, Eva said the song is about overcoming the struggles and hardships of life.
In April 2014, Eva released Eva Says, a mini video series that include live performances of songs from the EP.{{cite web|last1=Bilen-Onabanjo|first1=Sinem|title=FAB Video Series: 'Eva Says' by Nigerian Rapper Eva Alordiah|url=http://fabmagazineonline.com/fab-video-series-eva-says-by-nigerian-rapper-eva-alordiah/|publisher=Fab Magazine|accessdate=12 July 2014|date=30 April 2012}}
