History
The corner-stone of the new church was laid on 28 April 1870 by Edward Bowyer Sparke, Esq., son of the late rector of Leverington. The church was built of flint with freestone dressings, the whole cost of the building having been provided for by the late Canon Sparke. Designed to accommodate nearly 300 persons. The contractors were Messrs. S. and W. Pattinson, of Ruskinton, and the architect Mr. Preedy, of London.{{cite news|title= Gorefield New Church|newspaper= Cambridge Independent Press |date= 30 April 1870|page= 8}}
