Gotchen Glacier is located on the south slopes of Mount Adams, a stratovolcano in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest in the U.S. state of Washington.{{Cite map|publisher=TopoQwest (United States Geological Survey Maps)|title=Mount Adams East, WA|url=http://www.topoquest.com/map.php?lat=46.16373&lon=-121.47342&datum=nad83&zoom=4|accessdate=2012-11-04}} The glacier descends from approximately {{convert|8200|ft|abbr=on}} to a terminus near {{convert|7400|ft|abbr=on}} below, where an old terminal moraine and proglacial lake exist.
